PARAGRAPH 1 I really hope I don't have to attend another meeting this week. In this company they just go on and on without any structure. I spend half of my time doodling on my notepad and the other half writing my “To Do” list for the week. The poor woman who has to take and write up the minutes must be suicidal. It is ridiculous, but I might call a meeting to speak about our meetings. PARAGRAPH 1 De verdad espero no tener que asistir a otra reunión en esta semana. En esta empresa, sólo hablan y hablan sin tener ninguna estructura. Me paso la mitad del tiempo dibujando garabatos en mi cuaderno y la otra mitad escribiendo mi lista de “cosas por hacer” para la semana. PARAGRAPH 2 I'm so glad I don't work in the Finance Department. The Director is a tyrant and seems to spend all of his time huffing and puffing and shouting at his staff. It can't be a productive way to work. He banged his desk with his fist so hard yesterday that I that I jumped out of my skin. His staff must be used to it, though, as they didn't bat an eyelid. They just carried on working. PARAGRAPH 2 Estoy encantado de no trabajar en el Departamento Financiero. PARAGRAPH 3 I couldn't believe it when she told me she'd lost her job. She'd been with the firm for over 20 years and was only three years away from retirement when they let her go. She was almost in tears when she told me about it on the phone. I knew we hadn't been doing well lately, but had no idea the Board of Directors was going to take such ruthless measures. I'd better start updating my résumé. I could be next in line. PARAGRAPH 3 No me lo podía creer cuando ella me dijo que había perdido su empleo. PARAGRAPH 4 He just doesn't fit in with our group. All we like talking about is football but the only thing that he seems to like is opera. Maybe we could change our meetings to Thursday night to coincide with Opera Odyssey on Channel 11. He wouldn't want to come and we wouldn't have to hurt his feelings by telling him the truth. I worked so much harder that quarter than the previous ones that the only thing I can think is that our calculations were way off.
