ATR 42 MP The ATR 42 MP is a derivative of the proven ATR 42 / 72 twin turboprop aircraft family, specifically based on the latest ATR 42-600 airframe and designed to perform a wide range of special missions. Through a number of mission specific systems/features, the aircraft provides outstanding capabilities in Surveillance/Reconnaissance, Exclusive Economic Zone patrol and Search And Rescue duties. Because it can be easily reconfigured, the ATR 42 MP also doubles as an effective multi-purpose transport aircraft. The ATR 42 MP inherits the exceptional characteristics of the basic platform, including the structure designed to meet the latest damage tolerance requirements and characterized by high corrosion resistance and extensive use of composites. The MP structure is modified for sensor installation and to introduce specific mission-related features including bubble windows and in-flight operable hatch (or door). The ATR 42 MP can easily operate in extreme temperatures, altitudes and environmental conditions; it can safely take off and land on short and narrow runways. These features, combined with the “Hotel Mode” function, enable it to use remote bases where only limited is available. The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW 127M turboprops, each with 2,400 sHP continuous power rating, retained during one engine inoperative take-off. Each engine is fitted with a Hamilton Sundstrand 568F six-blade, variable-pitch propeller. The new standard avionic suite includes a glass cockpit flight deck featuring five LCD screens. Designed to meet the most exacting customer requirements, it is based on state-of-the-art components with specific enhancements for the MP role. Because crew comfort is crucial to effectiveness during long endurance missions, the ATR 42 MP is designed with this goal in mind. Specific noise/vibration reduction features, optimized ECS, abundant internal space, adjustable seats, fully equipped galley and toilet endow the ATR 42 MP with outstanding levels of comfort.

MISSION SYSTEM The open architecture Mission System offers inherent mission flexibility, while the extensive use of COTS components guarantees state-of-the-art Human Machine Interface, graphics capability and computer throughput performance. The Mission System is based on two removable, interchangeable tactical operator stations equipped with multifunction, integrated display and control units, significantly reducing dedicated control s and monitors and maximizing flexibility in crew task allocation. The main Mission System task is to control and monitor the sensors which collect, analyze, fuse, record and distribute all available data. Functions ed by the Mission System include active and ive electronic surveillance, optical reconnaissance in the visible and infrared band, vessel identification, pollution detection, mission planning, airdrop . Two flat displays linked to the Mission System are installed respectively in the cockpit and debriefing area to allow other crew to follow the tactical situation from these locations.

Search Radar The ATR 42 MP Search Radar is a multimode, X-band unit optimized for 360° long-range target detection, tracking and identification. It is designed for operations against sea surface targets, but also provides air-to-air and weather modes and SAR, ISAR and MTI capabilities. The embedded Track While Scan feature allows one hundred targets to be tracked simultaneously.
Electronic Measures (ESM) The ESM system provides long range, all weather, radar emitting targets detection, classification and identification, including loading/recording of relateddata. It includes six ive antennas installed in positions providing 360° 360 coverage of the area around the aircraft, linked to a Wide Open receiver.
Automatic Identification System (AIS) The system identifies and locates any target equipped with an operating AIS transponder, be it a ship, an aircraft or a helicopter. Its data contribute to create the tactical situation produced by the Mission System, complementing Search Radar information. It is especially useful during sealane monitoring, EEZ patrol and SAR missions.
Direction Finder (DF)
Electro-Optical Turret
The DF is a V/UHF 360° Direction Finding device which locates the direction of radio emitters in the MHz to 470 MHz frequency range.
The Electro-Optical Turret provides ive target detection and identification capabilities in any light condition by grouping in a single stabilized assembly optical sensors operating in both the infra-red and visible spectrums. The turret operates over 360° in azimuth and in a wide elevation range. It can be slaved to the Search Radar to optical identification of the detected targets. The specific sensors integrated in the turret can be tailored to customer needs.
Side Looking Airborne Radar (SLAR)
Hyper Spectral Scanner (HSS)
This radar allows long-range detection of sea pollution (such as oil slicks) andmonitoring of underwater activities close to the sea surface. Its antennas, inin stalled in the rear fuselage, can monitor areas extending up to 75 km from either side of the aircraft.
The Hyper Spectral Scanner identifies pollution agent types. This ive sensor operates in the IR, visible and UV frequency ranges and requires the aircraft to fly directly over the area to be monitored.
