Model 8632A Hawk-I™ Hardware

Hawk-I™ model 8632A is a unique controller combining the power of a PLC with the ease of use of an embedded controller. Applications include engines, motors, pump monitoring, compressor control, well control, generator set control, small scale automation and process monitoring and control.

A basic Hawk-I™ provides functions for Alarm and Shutdown and is expandable for complete control applications. Model 8632A is based on an expandable platform in a single fixed enclosure, featuring a 32 character backlit display and a tactile keypad. Base Hawk-I™’s have discrete inputs (32), relay outputs (4), speed input (1) and communication ports (2). The unit can be expanded to include any or all of the following: thermocouples (16), 4-20mA loop inputs (8), 4-20mA loop (PID) outputs (3), relay drivers (4 or 24) and MODBUS™ RTU protocol communications.

Software Hawk-l™’s operational sequence is controlled by data ed from HawkWin™, a Windows™ based configuration program. HawkWin™ simplifies programming by using separate windows for Sequence and Analog Functions. Common functions, such as override classes, first out annunciation and alarm & shutdown setpoints have been integrated into the software for ease of programming. The Hawk-I™ automatically logs the last 64 events with a date and time stamp. The Sequence Diagram (Ladder based) allows s to create control logic for their specific application. HawkWin™ provides single menu configurations of items such as inputs, outputs, timers, and display messages. All object names are definable while programming or troubleshooting. Plain text messages can be fully configured by the ; Alarm and Shutdown annunciation is automatic. HawkWin™ uses an Analog Diagram to represent the operational flow of anaputs, data and outputs. By placing objects and connecting them, the “draws” the process functionality for the associated control. Examples of available embedded functions are: PID control, Split Range Control, Multiplex, Setpoint Constants, Setpoint Variable, and most standard math functions. AMOT Controls Ltd.
