INTRODUCTION:• It is considered a concept of reduction in the cost of construction without sacrificing the strength required for the performance of the building. • As the population grows, the price in every product increases Including cement and construction material. • With the growth in population, the need for residential properties are marking in all time demand in the construction industry. • The environmental effect is also to be considered. • Utilization of the alternate materials can put a mark in today’s construction for environmental protection and for Cost reduction.

ADVANTAGES:• Use of cheap & locally available materials.

• Job opportunity for local people. • Biodegradable materials. • Energy efficiency and eco friendliness 5-15 times less energy consumed then fired brick and around 3-8 times less emission. • Transferable technology. • Import reduction.

AREAS OF CONCERN:Severe shortage of houses in developing countries specially for poor people. Severe problem of management of agro industrial waste in developing countries. Mounting pressure on non renewable energy resources. Non-availability of energy efficient technologies for converting agro industrial waste and renewable local resources into alternative materials. Expensive & scarce building materials and components.

RECYCLING:-

• Recycled materials adapted for low cost housing include wood and rubber that are previously been used. • Reprocessed into materials that are used in building walls and other parts of a house. • Recycled glass and metal are also used on occasion. • These recycled materials are often less expensive than using fully natural products.

2. EXTENSIVE PLANNING:• In extensive planning, the more planning goes into a house, the less the actual construction will cost. • Contractors should plan out exact dimensions and should gather facts. • Contractors should look for the best materials at the cheapest prices so they can order exactly what they need. • This saves money that would otherwise be wasted on unnecessary supplies and cleanup caused by littered materials.

3. MODULAR PLANNING:Modular building is a type of construction where pieces of the home or typically whole rooms or major parts of rooms , are built offsite in large factories. This process allows the pieces to be built efficiently and exactly according to building standards. At the site, the pieces are connected to the house.

4. INFILLING:Infilling is the practice of going back through residential areas and building in areas that had previously been left empty. Now its possible to build on because of resolved environmental concerns, space issues or other problems that have since been remedied. Infilling makes better use of existing space. It is less expensive for contractors overall.

CONCLUSION:-

• Low cost housing is considered housing constructed with low budget. The definition should have been the housing with minimum cost even if budget is available. Thus concept should then be valid for small or big , single or multistoried and ews or bungalow construction and all type of construction.
