English
1.1 For Our Environment Give any accumulated packaging parts to the designated collection points for recycling. Used batteries should not be disposed off as domestic refuse. Make sure that they are properly disposed off.
1.2 Application The visual signaling device serves the static setting and testing of the startof-delivery position for an injection pump installed on the engine. The visual signaling device can be used for governor models RSF II, RS, RSV, RQ, RQV and RQV-K.
1.3 Versions The visual signaling device is available in various versions: - 0 986 612 157 External power supply via battery-terminal cable (red insulation) for battery (+) (12 V / 24V), ground via signaling device. - 0 986 612 174 Internal power supply via 9 V modular battery, ground via battery-terminal cable (black insulation). Do not connect an external voltage!
- 0 986 612 460 (Volvo 998 7057) Version as for 0 986 612 174, but with its spline offset by 180° to the cable age.

2. Function Order No. 0 986 612 157 is connected via the battery-cable terminal (red insulation) to the battery (+).
The visual signaling device contains 2 light-emitting diodes, which make via the signaling device when the signal mark touches the signaling device. Depending upon the position of the signal mark, either one or both LEDs will be illuminated. For signal recording purposes a tooth-shaped signal mark or a pointer are mounted on the flyweight assembly or the governor’s hub.
3. Cleaning If, when screwing in the signaling device to the governor housing, both LEDs are illuminated, it is probable that dirt containing metal (engine oil in the governor housing) is located between the tips of the device. For this reason, the signaling device’s tips should always be cleaned using compressed air before each use.
4. Changing Battery Only order no. 0 986 612 174 or 0 986 612 460 (Volvo 998 7057) Open the battery compartment on the rear of the visual signaling device. Remove the empty battery, insert the new 9 V modular battery and close the battery compartment. Used batteries should not be disposed off as domestic refuse. Make sure that they are properly disposed off.

6. Start-of-Delivery Setting on Engine The system-related information on ESI[tronic] must be observed!
English
6.1 Remove screw plug from governor’s sliding flange.
6.2 Turn the injection pump’s camshaft in the specified direction until the signal mark or pointer can be seen through the sliding flange’s aperture. Set the engine crankshaft to startof-delivery for the relative cylinder in compression stroke.

6.3
English
Plug signaling device into sliding flange. In doing so make sure that the locating tab on the stem of the signaling device is inserted into the intended groove of the location bore.
6.4 Turn in the locating screw by hand and tighten. - Order No. 0 986 612 157 Connect battery-cable terminal (red insulation) to battery (+).
- Order No. 986,612,174 or 0 986 612 460 (Volvo 998 7057) Connect battery-cable terminal (black insulation) to ground.

English
Mount injection pump onto engine and tighten provisionally using all the screws, but do not yet tighten fully. Swivel the pump against the direction of rotation in the area of the oblong slot on the flange or at the coupling. Check whether the engine is still in the start-of-delivery position.
6.6 Observe the signaling device’s LEDs and slowly swivel the pump in the direction of rotation. When the first is closed LED A will be illuminated. Carefully swivel the pump onwards until LED B also illuminates. Secure the pump in this position and tighten the fastening screws.
If only LED B is illuminated, then the start-of-delivery position has been ed and the setting will have to be repeated until both LEDs illuminate.

6.7
English
After tightening the fastening screws on the pump, turn the engine by hand to check the setting, until the start-of-delivery position is reached again. When the setting is correct both LEDs must be illuminated. If this is not the case, undo the fastening screws on the pump and repeat the setting procedure.
6.8 After completing the setting procedure, take the signaling device out of the sliding flange. Turn in the screw plug with sealing ring into the sliding flange and tighten.
