recon smock The Recon Smock is a derivative of our now world famous Recce Smock (at this point we recommend that those who are not familiar with the British smock concept visit our Recce Smock section for more detailed and essential information). American soldiers inundated us for requests to do an “Americanized” version of the Drop Zone Recce Smock in U.S. Military Camouflage Patterns. We were flattered with this demand and when appropriate fabric of high quality was made available to us we jumped at the opportunity. As our classic Recce Smock is now highly refined, the differences between the two smocks are mostly cosmetic. The Recon Smock is fitted with two Velcro® name tabs instead of one . The Canadian style rank tab was removed in favor of a 2”x 2” Velcro® square. The shoulder pocket Velcro® has been in creased 2”x 4” to 6”x 4” to better accommodate U.S. military badges. This is a good view of the rear of the fully adjustable hood. Note the Velcro® adjuster. It is long enough to accomodate the largest of ballistic helmets. This design has proven itself for years on our Recce Smock. Why muck with something that works?

Knowing full well the Recon Smock will be used under less than ideal conditions, laundering is a snap. Just empty your treasures from all your pockets, secure all fasteners, zips, etc. and machine wash using a laundry soap and warm, NOT HOT water. You can rub stubborn stains with jellied hand cleaner, just before dropping into the machine. Hang dry or machine dry the Recon Smock, warm, NOT HOT! When dry give the Recce Smock a light spray with a silicone or Teflon waterproofing. We like a brand called Tectron. CLOTHING: outerwear - 8

Lots to talk about here. Note the #10 Two-way YKK® main zip. Beefy! Notice the large storm flap our model has to hold back to expose the zipper detail. Beefy! Note the webbing tab sewn to the zipper. Beefy! It also makes it easier to do the zipper up. You’ve got to try it to believe it!
