WELCOME MESSAGE The Indonesian Pediatric Critical Care Foundation (Yayasan Pediatri Gawat Darurat Indonesia)
Dear Colleagues, The 10th Indonesian PICU NICU Update 20-21,22,23-24 March 2018 with the theme this year “Comprehensive Management of Perioperative Newborn Infants & Children” would highlight the perioperative management for neonatal and pediatric critically ill patients to decrease end organ dysfunction prior to intervention, improved intraoperative techniques, and postoperative management to decrease morbidity and mortality due to achieve optimal outcomes. To continue the more intense highlight of particular knowledge, 10th Indonesian PICU NICU Update will be held previously with the Summit as last year. This year Respiratory Summit in Critically ill Newborn Infants & Children will be managed to be integrated for newborn infants and pediatric in International level from 20-21 March 2018 and the fruitful workshops in prior setting on 22 March 2018, before we explored updates on 23-24 March 2018. The international collaboration workshops are also available in post-setting on 25-26 March 2018 to enhance your horizon. We do hope participants of 10th Indonesian PICU NICU Update would have further awareness with comprehensive management fruitful clinical experience sharing, assess strategies for early prevention and treatment to meet the goal of optimal quality of life for preterm infants and children. Organized by Indonesian Pediatric Critical Care Foundation (IPCCF) - in collaboration with Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care (ERIA) Working Group/Indonesian Pediatric Society, and with the endorsement of Indonesian Pediatric Society – Bali Branch, the annually Indonesian PICU NICU Update has been continuously kept Its work force to share Its leading clinical and management practice innovations in the field of pediatric and neonates critical care to its growing . PRE-SYMPOSIUM WORKSHOP 10TH INDONESIAN PICU NICU UPDATE PEDIATRIC DIFFICULT AIRWAY COURSE Thursday, 22 March 2018 Junior Ballroom 1, The Stones Hotel - Legian Bali
INTRODUCTION The Pediatric Airway Skills Course equips learners with the tools necessary to manage a difficult pediatric airway in critically ill children. The course will review patient positioning, techniques for improved airway visualization, as well as review skills and tools that can make a difference in the challenging airway patient. Learners will be exposed to laryngoscopic intubation, laryngeal mask airways, bougies, GlideScopes, transtracheal jet ventilation as well as Seldinger and McIntyre cricothyroidotomies. During the hands-on phase, learners will receive direct instruction and practice using this equipment. The learners will then apply their new knowledge by being placed into a high-fidelity simulation experience where they will be challenged to use these new techniques. This workshop is for trainees and consultants who wish to refresh and update skills in managing children in critically ill with a difficult airway. The course aims to discuss the management of the anticipated and unanticipated paediatric difficult airway. The format of the day is one of short interactive lectures, videos and hands-on small group workshops. The workshops cover care and basic use of the fibre-optic laryngoscope, modified airway and LMA access techniques using guidewires and exchange catheters.
