RESIGNATION RESIGNATION • The term resignation refers to the act of quitting a job, or stepping down from a public position, before the individual’s contract or term is up. While resignation is normally voluntarily, there have been instances in which employees felt they had no choice but to resign, else they would face harsher consequences. This is fairly common following a scandal, or some other problematic situation.
DISCHARGE Discharge is the termination of the services of an employee but it is not done for the punishment purpose.
What are the reasons for discharge?
• • Inebriation or alcoholism • Violation of rules. • Physical disability • Violent and aggressive acts. • Inefficiency • Unauthorized absence from the duty for a long time. • Dishonesty.
DISMISSAL Dismissal refers to the act of terminating the employment of an employee by the employer in an organization. Dismissal is sometimes also termed as firing or sacking. Depending on the reason of termination, there are two types of dismissals – Fair dismissal and Unfair dismissal.

Unfair dismissal
Reasons includes maternity reasons, taking part in union activites, whistle-blowing, discrimination on grounds of age, gender, race, religion, nationality etc. It can also be due to economic reasons when an employee had to be laid-off
Suspension A human resource practice, suspension is the practice in which an employee is not allowed to attend official work and will also not be receiving any compensation during the period. Employees in an organization are expected to adhere to the organization defined professional and ethical conduct, failing which he/she may be subject to disciplinary actions that include demotion, dismissal or suspension.
Hence before suspending any resource the employer has to ask the following questions
