The entry of non – certified tools / equipment (Welding Transformer, Generator, Mobile Plant etc) to be authorized under Permit to Work System. Keep the fire extinguishers & fire hoses in ready condition. Keep trained fire watch as standby

Unintended Shutdown of Facility / Equipment
Identify the safety override required for the work.
Unauthorized Work
Take a Hot Work Permit and other associated permits from Asset Owner.
Ensure the welding equipment (torch, cable, electrode holder, transformer, generator, cable connector, plugs, sockets etc) are free from defect and earthed as needed.
Radiation from UV / IR Rays (Flash Eye)
Wear protective goggles.
Exposure to Welding Fumes
Ensure proper ventilation and fume extraction equipment in case of welding inside an enclosure
Burns
Wear long sleeved coverall, leather apron; welder’s hood.
Falling of Sparks / hot bids
Enclose the welding area through tarpaulin.
Ensure the cables have proper insulation and connector as well as termination ts are safe for the purpose. Locate the emergency stop switch for immediate power isolation.

Windup & Housekeeping
Scattered Material
Keep Welding Generator at least 5 meters away from hot work area. Stop the generator when not in use. Ensure proper wind up & housekeeping at worksite. The accessories (torch, cable, electrode holder) not being used must be disconnected from transformer / generator and stored separately.
